Three columns of fine print selects exactly as you would expect with ExactScan, but VueScan selects blocks and full width text at times instead of staying within the columns. ExactScan does a better job with being able to select text in the OCR’d document. The ExactScan documents look cleaner–the text is easier to read and look more like the original document.A six page (three double-sided pages) took 14 seconds to complete with ExactScan and just over a minute for VueScan. ExactScan is a lot faster scanning my documents.Auto crop, auto rotate, deskew, and OCR then finally save the file in my Scans folder where Hazel takes over. I have both apps create B&W PDFs from the duplex feeder. Here are a few observations from my trials: I have been playing with both VueScan and ExactScan to try to reproduce the workflows I currently use with my ScanSnap S1500m. Which then works fine? LOL Theres prob a better way to uninstall and then reinstall everything…but just dragging over the applications was enough in this case. Then at times it will change this scan window and access the newer scaner window. One more thing: I turned off the quick menu option…the old manager will bring up the old scan snap settings window and you just link it to a folder on your HD…set the resolution and such in that window. Hope this helps someone with a dead scanner… Not touching or updating anything now that it works. VIOLA!! it freak’n worked!! SO HAPPY!! The Scan Snap manager is version 6.3 L61. Last night I went back to my old macbook pro and just copied the old software for the Scan Snap in the applications folder and just dragged it over. I tried all the various fixes listed above and others but no luck and a dead scanner. Last week I killed it by updating the ScanSnap software. I moved from an old macbook pro to a new one last year or the year before (?) with OS 10.14.2 and everything still worked great with the scan snap S510M. ScanSnap S1500M connected directly to my Mac (won’t work through my Anker hub) Thank you all for helping me get my ScanSnap going again! I understand that Fujitsu can’t continue writing drivers for scanners forever (mine is 9 years old) but I hate to brick a solid piece of functional equipment which cost almost $500 9 years ago! Which took me to the download page with MacSSInstiX500WW1.dmg (704,422 Bytes) for download.įrom then on it was just download, agreeing, clicking, update this and that and finally I got my S1500M working again after months of collecting dust! I chose the ScanSnap Installer with release date April 19, 2016. I uninstalled the ScanSnap Home using the uninstaller program.Ĭhose ScanSnap iX500 and macOS Sierra v10.12 which took me to the ScanSnap iX500 download page. I don’t know if anyone is still interested in this process and apologize for my simplicity in the following process. Previously had tried to install ScanSnap Home, which refused to connect to my S1500M. I had almost given up on my S1500M on Mojave but decided to give it another try and was encouraged by all on this forum who seemed to have theirs running on Mojave. Found this thread via a Google search for “scansnap s1500m mojave”.
